Before & Afters
Welcome to my favorite page on this site! There's nothing better than a good before and after, don't you think?

Pantry Before
The pantry stored food as well as entertaining and cleaning supplies.

Pantry After
Added shelves for kitchen appliances and relocated entertaining and cleaning supplies.

Child's Closet Before
The client was looking for more accessible clothes and toy storage, as well as display for her son's creations.

Child's Closet After
We used bins the client already owned to organize toys and used the dresser as a designated space for display.

Closet Before
The client had two smaller closets and it wasn't always clear which clothes belonged where.

Closet After
This closet became weekend-wear. Added hanging shelves for sweaters and a set of drawers for workout gear.

Child's Closet Before
Art supplies were stored in a nearby desk, shelving unit and closet.

Child's Closet After
All art supplies were relocated into a rainbow cart the client already owned. Art kits were relocated to shelves near the cart.

Playroom Before
The kids loved to play in the area right as you walk into the playroom, but there wasn't toy storage nearby.

Playroom After
Moved existing toy storage to behind the couch and relocated the tent and used it as stuffed animal display.

Playroom Toy Storage Before
There wasn't enough storage to keep games, books and sports equipment together. Without a specific place to return toys to, the kids didn't consistently put toys away (especially after playdates).

Playroom Toy Storage After
The new corner shelving unit allows everything to be co-located so the kids know where to put things away.

Playroom Activity Centers Before
The playroom stored toys and supplies for activities that the kids no longer enjoyed.

Playroom Activity Centers After
We created a more defined area to play dolls by combining two shelving units. Art supplies were relocated upstairs with school supplies.

Small Space Pantry Before
These kitchen cabinets are only 9" deep. There's not a lot of storage space and the client felt it was almost pointless to organize.

Small Space Pantry After
Adding just a few bins and turntables (turntables are transformational in a small space, I promise!) made things much easier to find and gave everything a dedicated space.

Large Space Pantry Before
The client had remodeled about a year prior, but felt like she never really liked how the pantry was organized. It always felt stuffed and frustrated everyone in the family.

Large Space Pantry After
After relocating baking supplies to a nearby kitchen drawer, the pantry opened up. Each shelf now has a dedicated purpose with room to spare.

Walk-In Pantry Before
The client had tried to get organized in the past but couldn't find a sustainable system.

Walk-In Pantry After
After relocating non-food items to other areas (keeping the frequently-used Ninja and Instant Pot!), each shelf could easily hold a category of food.

Walk-In Pantry Before - Floor Storage
The floor was acting as backstock storage and overflow. Trips to Costco meant stacking boxes on the floor.

Walk-In Pantry After - Floor Storage
We designated the top shelf for backstock so a Costco trip doesn't clutter the floor and added bins for things like kids' lunchboxes and dog food.

Deep Shelf Pantry Before
What to do with a deep shelf pantry? It's dark and difficult to see items in back.

Deep Shelf Pantry After
The client wanted the pantry to be bright and inspire her to cook. We put most flavorful food (oil, vinegar, sauces) front and center. We also added two rows of turntables, risers and lights to make it easier to see items in the back.

Laundry Room Before
With the need to store masks and other pandemic supplies, the purpose of laundry room storage areas needed to change.

Laundry Room After
We relocated gifts and other non-utility items to make space and clear the counters.

Utility Closet Before
The utility closet used to hold gifts, cards and wrapping paper. While this worked for a while, space needs changed with the pandemic.

Utility Closet After
Now the utility closet holds all cleaning supplies as well as masks for the family.

Pantry Backstock Before
Costco trips went straight from the car to this basement storage rack. However it was difficult to see what pantry backstock was on-hand at-a-glance.

Pantry Backstock After
Adding bins took better advantage of vertical space and made categories and quantities much more clear.

Basement Storage Room Before
Removing two file cabinets allowed space for a second storage rack.

Basement Storage Room After
With additional shelving, like items are easily grouped together. Adding garage hooks got nearly everything off the floor achieving the project's goal of not stepping over something to get to something else.

Basement Utility Area Before
This area was a mix of high-use and low-use household items. The goal was to move all low-use items to the adjacent storage room to create storage for high-use kids' sports equipment.

Basement Utility Area After
All sports equipment is in one place and easy to use and put away. No more "storing" baseball equipment in the upstairs entryway!

His and Hers Closets Before
This project involved looking at all clothes storage across three rooms and creating "his and hers" closets.

His and Hers Closets After
The guest room closet used to store a mix of clothes for each family member and now only stores "his" clothes.

His and Hers Closets Before
The primary bedroom closet stored both "his and hers" before, making it difficult to know what was where.

His and Hers Closets After
In addition to relocating "his" clothes to the guest room closet, we sorted out clothes that no longer fit with her new career.

Storage Room Before
Post-remodel, the storage room seemed to take on a life of its own. It was difficult to access holiday decorations and other regularly used items.

Storage Room After
We relocated holiday decorations to the front and created clear zones for camping, entertaining, keepsakes and even a shelf for in-progress projects.

Kitchen Closet Before
Part pantry and part utility closet, it was difficult to access the daily-use items and wasn't always clear which food was in the pantry versus the closet.

Kitchen Closet After
Establishing the closet as a zone for baking, small appliances and backstock made it easy to decide what goes where. Reusable grocery bags once hung on a wall, are now folded in baskets on the bottom shelf.

Art Studio Before
The client had relocated the art studio to this room, but wanted help decluttering and setting it up in a way that made sense for her process.

Art Studio After
After decluttering, we were able to remove several pieces of furniture and clear all surfaces to be ready to create.

Reading Nook Before
After finishing a remodel, the client wanted help setting up a reading nook to be organized and beautiful.

Reading Nook After
The client's favorite books and art are now on display.

Laundry Room Before
The laundry room had become overwhelming and the client wanted a reset.

Laundry Room After
Each drawer and cabinet now has a defined purpose and there's even room to grow into empty shelves.

Basement Apartment Before
This apartment had been used as storage during a remodel and the client was ready for it to be an apartment again.

Basement Apartment After
Once the overflow was removed, we sorted through all remaining items, edited and decorated with what was left.

Playroom Before
Toys were stored across three rooms in the house and it was challenging to know where things belonged.

Playroom After
The playroom was defined as the zone for imaginative play. Adding a table with bins underneath keeps the floor more open.

Garage Storage Before
With several storage areas throughout the house, the client and I worked together to determine what belonged in the garage.

Garage Storage After
The garage is right off the kitchen so it holds infrequently used small kitchen appliances as well as extra pots and pans and household utility items.

Storage Room After
This was one of several storage areas and it wasn't clear where everything belonged.

Storage Room After
The client and I established clear zones for travel, decorative baskets and painting supplies.

Storage Closet Before
After a basement flood, this storage closet was used to get everything off the floor quickly.

Storage Closet After
Each area in the closet now has a defined purpose, like the above office-supply backstock area.

Art and Reading Room Before
Over time, an extra bedroom had become a storage room shared by everyone in the family.

Art and Reading Room After
After sorting, categorizing, relocating and donating, the room was ready to be what the client wanted: a quiet space for reading and drawing.

Pantry Before
The client had worked with an organizer before, but the system needed a refresh.

Pantry After
By relocating spices to a drawer, we freed up space to ensure everything could be easily accessed.

Busy Entry Before
With a family of five, the client was looking for a system for processing backpacks and school work as well as a clear storage plan for shoes and coats.

Busy Entry After
All adult jackets and shoes were moved to a closet, creating space for each child to have their own coat hooks and shoe bins. A basket on the table holds "in process" books and school work and backpacks go underneath.

Garage Before
After a remodel during the pandemic, the garage held furniture that was no longer used leaving it difficult to access needed items.

Garage After
After donating pieces that weren't needed, the garage now holds keepsakes, extra seating and travel items.

Living Room Toy Storage Before
With a playroom and a living room, it was difficult for the kids to know which toys belonged where.

Living Room Toy Storage After
The client and I worked together to identify the toys that made the most sense to keep in the living room and the remaining toys were relocated to the playroom.

Toddler's Room Before
The client wanted to create some clear toy storage zones in her youngest's bedroom.

Toddler's Room After
A few bins and bookshelves was all this room needed to have clear zones.

Craft Room Before
After many pandemic art projects, the client was looking to sort through the family's craft room and clear space for creativity.

Craft Room After
Each cabinet and drawer holds a different type of art supply, making it easy for the kids to find what they need and get creative.

Basement Storage Room Before
This was part of a larger project to evaluate all major storage areas and pare down belongings after decades in the same home. This photo is from halfway through the project, as we identifed items to donate.

Basement Storage Room After
Not only can the client now workout in this room, all closets and a second storage room are organized and have clearly defined categories for what belongs where.

Pantry Before
The pantry was a source of frustration and difficult to walk around in. The client was looking for it to become easy to use.

Pantry After
Now the pantry has clearly defined zones and cookbooks that were previously stored elsewhere could come back to the pantry for cooking inspiration.

Office Supply Area Before
After moving offices, this business client needed help with space allocation across the entire suite including changing how office supplies were stored.

Office Supply Area After
The office supplies were relocated against the opposite wall to free up space for a more welcoming reception area. We established dedicated locations and reorder levels for all office supplies.

Materials Supply Area Before
After a move to a larger office space, there were several rooms available for materials, supplies, tools and equipment. It wasn't always clear where items were located.

Materials Supply Area After
Each supply now has a dedicated location and a set reorder level. Visuals throughout the office explain the process and prompt the next step.
